In this post I demonstrate 3 ways to do Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana, a yoga posture in which you balance on one leg.
Because there’s always more than one way to try a posture, I’m going to show you 3 options for different levels of ability.
This posture requires mental focus just as much as anything physical. So when you’re doing it, keep your eyes softly focused on one un-moving spot in front of you, breathe, and have a go.
Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana
This is me demonstrating the full posture.
Traditionally you hook the first two fingers around the big toe, placing the thumb on the tip of the big toe. Instead, what I’m showing you here is my hand around the outside of the foot. This can feel more stable when you’re learning, so try this option out first.
